KNOW AUT: the programme linking schools, families and services for the inclusion of students with autism gets under way

Understanding autism in order to build a truly inclusive school: with this goal, KNOW AUT got under way on 11 March 2025. The training programme is promoted by the Municipality of Potenza, funded by the Fund for the social inclusion of persons with disabilities and delivered by Sintesi.

The work was opened by Prof. Filippo Muratori, scientific director of the project and one of Italy’s leading experts in child neuropsychiatry. Prof. Muratori outlined the programme’s coordinates: understanding the characteristics of the autism spectrum, adopting effective educational methodologies and strengthening the alliance among those who support these students every day.

From the kick-off, a rich and well-structured programme takes shape. Sintesi built it as two parallel pathways, one for nursery and primary school and one for lower and upper secondary school, to meet the specific needs of each age group. In all, 26 webinars with sector experts are planned. Topics range from augmentative and alternative communication to the ABA, ESDM and TEACCH methodologies. The programme also covers the PEI and the Life Project, managing the inclusive classroom and challenging behaviours, and pathways towards autonomy.

A training course designed to be accessible to everyone: sessions can be followed live by streaming and remain available on demand, together with the speakers’ teaching materials.
